On July 7, a special event was held where hundreds of bikers participated in. It was a ride for a cause, the 16th annual Hogs for Dogs benefit ride, held at Denney's Harley-Davidson. The purpose of the ride was to raise money for no-kill animal shelter ā€‹Castaway Animals Rescue Effort (CARE).
One of the riders was Rod Petersen and his dog, Stingray. Petersen and Stingray have been together for over 12 years. Petersen calls Stingray his pro bike companion. Stingray isn’t just a regular dog, but she has also been trained to be a service dog. She senses drops in Petersen’s blood sugar and when he gets stressed out.
The Hogs for Dogs benefit ride raised awareness of animal homelessness. Hopefully, the event is able to raise $33,000 as it did in 2018.
