Children Read Stories to Therapy Dogs on Zoom

People. Animal. Love. (PAL) is a Washington-based nonprofit group. Before the pandemic, the therapy animals were taken to care facilities, libraries, and prisons to provide comfort. Now, they have changed policies by letting children read stories to the therapy dogs on Zoom.

The program, named “Read to a PAL Therapy Dog!” coordinates the therapy dogs plus a few cats to children who are practicing reading online.

Nicolas Gaiani, a six-year-old, is one of the booked clients who get to read the lyrics of What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong to his furry audience. Nicholas’s mother, Alissa Gaiani, said, “He’s really proud that he can read. It’s really given him a platform to show that off a bit.”
