Dog Assigned to Give Emotional Support to a Nervous Cheetah

Who would’ve thought a wild African cat would be friends with a domesticated dog? In the case of the Turtle Back Zoo in West Orange, New Jersey, a shy Cheetah named Nandi is close friends with Bowie the Golden Retriever.

Wild animals taken to a domesticated environment where unfamiliar terrain and faces are commonly seen would cause anxiety to them. Because of this, Bowie was given the same training as a therapy dog. The purpose is to help Nandi build her confidence facing humans. Bowie also helps Nandi calm down when unfamiliar noises startle her like car horns.
