Misrepresentation of emotional support animals has become more common these days. Cheryl Wassus, a professional dog trainer for 30 years, told The Monroe News that it's an unregulated industry and that people think they can take their animals with them anywhere they go.
Last week, she spoke before Michigan’s Senate Local Government Committee in support of the bills introduced by state Sen. Dale Zorn, R-Ida.
These bills include Senate bill 609 which provides a clear distinction between service animals and emotional support animals, and Senate Bill 610 which indicates that people cannot misrepresent themselves to housing providers just to have their pet live with them as an emotional support animal.
