Houston Independent School District Police Department Hires Jamaica

Jamaica is a Bernedoodle comfort dog. She is the newest addition to the Houston Independent School District Police Department’s (HISDPD) staff. Her job is to help students in the area foster a connection with the police officers.

Police Chief Pete Lopez of the HISDPD said, “This is one of my efforts to help bring us closer to the community. Students see the dog and not the police officer. It helps everyone feel at ease.” Jamaica is currently under training. She’s at the initial stages to be exact.

When she completes her training this fall, she will be renamed as a prize of a contest which will be participated by the students from the area.
