Idaho Dog Academy Grows to Help More for Those in Need

Idaho K9 Academy of Snake River Animal Shelter will soon be opening a new training facility after receiving a $100,000 grant from the Cross Foundation.

Able to lease land from the airport on Olympia Street, they still need to raise another $80,000. Despite the lack of funds to start building, Executive Director Kristin Sanger is hopeful that they will be able to begin construction this spring and open by August.

The dog academy has been operating over a year now since its opening in January 2019 and has brought in $93,000 last year. The idea for the academy started when Sanger realized 17% of the shelter animals being adopted were being returned due to behavior issues.
