Las Vegas Shelter Close to Achieving “Zero-Euthanasia” Goal

The Animal Foundation is one of the few shelters in the country that wants to meet and exceed the “appropriately strict” animal welfare standards by reducing their euthanized animals into zero.

The goal which was prompted by animal welfare advocates and established in 2015 has seen tremendous progress. From 9,400 cats and dogs to 2,800, it has been less than ⅓ of their annual population that has been euthanized compared to their 2015 numbers.

The foundation, however, aims to save every animal and they are now 2% away from achieving that goal. The use of euthanasia is only a last resort for animals with incurable diseases and very bad conditions.
