Local Hospital Uses Dogs To Bring Smile To Patientsā€™ Faces

The Good Samaritan Medical Center has a new program which their doctors believe to be great for helping patients recover. Their program involves therapy dogs which will be making rounds at the building to brighten up the day for patients.

Howard Kirkpatrick, the owner of one golden retriever, said, “It really gives them a lot of comfort to see him and any of the dogs and pet them, especially when you’re not feeling well the pet therapy seems to just really brightened her day.”

Research reveals that pet therapy lowers people’s pain, anxiety, and depression.

The owners of the dogs visiting Good Samaritan Medical Center say that their dogs have been tested and trained for certification. This means that they were evaluated on how well they handled noises and maintained the ability to stay calm around food.
