Meet Pedro and Poncho, Two Rehomed Donkeys Turned Into Therapy Animals

Donkeys are often raised to help with farm work and transportation. Yet, a farm manager from the Isle of Sheppey discovered that interacting with donkeys can boost one’s confidence, communication skills, and reduce negative thoughts.

Angela Edwards from Halfway said that she got into animal-assisted therapy by accident. She was contacted last summer and was asked if she was interested in rehoming two donkeys. Which would later be known as Pedro and Poncho.

"The reason I'm now doing therapy sessions with Pedro and Poncho is because a friend tagged me in a Facebook post at the end of last year about a local man, called Andy Larkin, wanting to hug a donkey as part of his bucket list,” said Mrs. Edwards.
