Meet Rose, An Upcoming District Attorney Office Comfort Dog

Witnesses and victims of crime or domestic violence suffer traumatizing experiences that mostly change their lives for the worst. This is evident during a talk with a legal counsel in an office or when one makes a testimony in court.

Not only that but even the staff of a legal institution are also at risk of stress and anxieties due to the nature of their work. That’s why the victim-witness unit of Marietta, Georgia’s District Attorney’s Office worked hard to make Rose, a 3-year-old Black Lab, part of their team.

Unit Director, Kimberly McCoy, said, “The level of stress and anxiety that victims of domestic violence experience is drastically reduced with the introduction of assistance animals.” Despite the long process to acquire Rose, the staff of the Marietta DA is very excited to welcome her.
