Missouri Animal Service Blessed While Following Social-Distancing Regulations

COVID-19 cannot stop the people of Springfield from thanking God for the blessing of having animal companions. In commemoration of the feast of St. Francis of Assisi the Patron Saint of Ecologists and Animals, the Christ Episcopal Church hosted a service and blessed the Springfield, Mo. Animal Service.

Those who attended remained in their cars during the service and each service animal was offered blessings once the service concluded. Music was played and gratitude was offered during the service as well.

“I am really excited about doing this (service) this year. We weren’t sure if we were going to be able to. But then we got the idea of the drive-in service. We’ve seen other churches have been doing that and we’ve thought, you know, that might just work for this blessing to the animal service,” said Mark Ohlemeier, Assistant Rector.
