Senior residents of Pacifica Senior Living were graced by the presence of rescue animals from the Funky Chicken Rescue and Zinger Ranch last Friday, April 23, 2021. Farm animals like goats, chickens, and ducks greeted the elderly from outside the home’s windows as they responded with smiles from the inside.
“Being around animals lowers blood pressure, and you can’t help but look at a chicken and laugh. That’s the kind of joy we’re trying to bring, give them a little break from the routine,” said Rosa Gracida, Pacifica’s sales director.
The elderly are among those that have been greatly affected negatively by the pandemic’s social-disconnection effects. Seeing animals have provided them immense joy even if they don’t get to hold the fuzzy critters.
