Zephyr is an 8-year-old Golden Retriever and has been a service dog to the Auten family for 7 years. After retiring from the household, he now shows separation anxiety.
Tyler Auten is a 13-year-old boy with autism and needs help and support from a service animal. But since he is growing, an old mutt like Zephyr can't keep up with the boy’s energy.
“He’s slowing down, my son is speeding up. What are we going to do with Zephyr?” says Dawn Auten, Tyler’s mother. After Dawn’s talking with the faculty of Colene Hoose Elementary, Zephyr, on January 22 this year, finds a new purpose as a therapy dog for students.
