Teenager Wants to Pay Tribute to Her Helpful Service Dog

For Charlotte Cleverly-Bisman, media attention isn’t new. Her birth has attracted international and local media attention for being her country’s youngest quadruple amputee. She survived a severe case of meningococcal disease. It wasn’t her desire to be in the headlines but this time, it’s different.

It’s all because of Callie, her black Labrador assistance dog. Charlotte was 10 years old when they first met and since then they have been inseparable. Pam and Perry, Charlotte’s parents were first concerned about giving her Callie as a young child but the 15-year-old girl had a natural affinity for animals.

"She likes to make people happy. There are lots of smiles on people's faces when Callie arrives, and when she's not around, everyone says 'where's Callie?' She sort of makes people behave better," said Charlotte.
