Thinking of bringing your furry family member? Think again.

While we love them, there are laws on bringing of Service Animals and forbidding pets in establishments that we can’t just ignore.

FDA prohibits bringing live animals but allows service animals in establishments such as grocery stores, restaurants and other premises catering to food. Unfortunately, therapy dogs and emotional support pets do not count as service animals.

In a Green Valley supermarket, for instance, a manager had to ask a customer with a bird perched on a poop-covered shoulder to step out of the store.

Said establishments are allowed to ask you if your pet is required by your disability, what it does for you and if found otherwise, they should, by law, escort you out the door.
